Art to Take 12-Day Trip to China

On March 21st, Art will embark on his most exotic excursion ever. He will be heading across the Pacific to visit mainland China, travelling with a group of eight (four men and four women, including one young woman who was born there and later emigrated to the US). His airfare and some of his ground expenses have been covered by the group's sponsors.

They will begin their tour in Hong Kong, travel inland visiting various sites, then head northward to Beijing, with stops along the eastern seaboard on the way. Quite a bit of sight-seeing has been factored into the itinerary, as well as joining locals in their daily activities.

His travelling companions, some of whom have been to China several times before, warn him that the meal aboard the flight from Chicago to Hong Kong will be the last decent breakfast he'll have on the trip. : )

This adventure is something Art had been contemplating about for about three years, and when the opportunity presented itself, he jumped on it. He's getting pretty excited about the trip now that it is less than three weeks away.

The other people in the Dyer fam are reluctantly trying to plan spring break activities that don't include dad. : (

[Art is following in the footsteps of his mother, Gladys, and oldest son, Wesley, who visited China for more than 14 days in October 1984.]

Comments:
Oops. You're right -- he was eight years old, making it 1985. Thanks for the correction.
