Matrimony Matters
mat'ri.mo.ny, n. [ME. and OFr. matrimoine; L. matrimonium, from mater, matris, a mother.]
1. the act of marrying; the rite or sacrament of marriage.
2. the state of being husband and wife.
3. married life.
4. (a) a card game with any number of players; (b) the combination of king and queen of trump, as in this game.
There are probably some of you out there in Burnsdom who aren't aware that Art and Linda were certified last November by Family Dynamics, Inc. to be Dynamic Marriage Class Facilitators. They underwent an intense 3-day training session in Indianapolis (during which time they bunked at the Bob Burns domicile) and emerged ready to share this effective new tool with others.
Last Sunday night marked the commencement of their inaugural class, comprised of 8 couples plus themselves. The group will meet weekly, but the bulk of the work is done by the couples at home -- listening to CD's, filling out inventories, assessments and workbooks, and discussing the aforementioned with one's spouse. The class is fast-paced, interactive, and self-educating -- meaning Dyers' main role is to keep things moving and on-track, not to teach.
Family Dynamics has the best recovery rate in the biz for couples who were already thinking or even openly talking about divorce (80% of couples in that category stay together over the long haul!). But not just that, the class has proven to consistently and significantly increase the satisfaction quotient for couples who are either already pleased with their marriage relationship or who feel somewhat stagnant in their marriage. So (just about) everybody wins!
Statistics demonstrate that people experience higher job satisfaction, better health, and overall more well-being when they feel fulfilled in their marriages. Art and Linda have been wanting to do something along this line for over a year, and happily stumbled onto this quality organization in October.
They'd love it if you all would cheer them on in their efforts to enrich, rejuvenate and/or redeem marriages in central Missouri!
