They're Going to the Dogs at Dyers'
As of last Wednesday, the Dyer household now includes a 4 1/2 month old black male Labrador-Border Collie mix. They feel very fortunate and happy to adopt him on behalf of a friend who couldn't keep the pup. For those of you who knew Sam-Bob, he looks strikingly similar, just a tad smaller. Black with a small patch of white on his chest, long collie hair, floppy Lab ears, probably 60-75 lbs. full-grown.
Linda is promising herself she will not keep count of how many things get chewed to smitherines as he goes from puppyhood to adulthood. Laurie is more visibly excited about his arrival than anyone else in the fam, but keen observation suggests that Troy sneakily intones greetings of affection in his own understated way...
Art has taken quite well to the newest resident, holding out hope that an inveterate cat lover can actually become a dogophile. Having moved to the "hood" the Dyers were in sore need of a "woofer". He's demonstrating a high level of desire to learn the new "obedience" commands. This bodes well for such a very energetic creature as a house dog.
Stay tuned for progress reports. Suggested names for the dog are welcome. Brad's clever idea of naming the family's second male parakeet, the older one having already been named Barney, Clyde (get it? "Barney" and Clyde...) was enthusiastically received and acted upon... It beat out his suggestion of Betty (of Flintstones fame) by a nose... the silly little bird would never know he had a girlie name...
